"From `bureaucracy´ to `WORK-SCAPE´";
Supervisor, Reviewer: Will Alsop; Hochbau und Entwerfen E253/4, 2005.

English abstract:
The basic idea is to create a methodology that allows the creation of a coherent work-scape, based on an accurate analysis of all components and aspects linked to the 'office' theme, such as: historical - social - technological - products - criteria & trends - examples; and then questioning each theme from various points of view, such as technological facts (hard) and social-human facts (soft).
The I.O.S. is a new approach addressing the question of defining `content´ for office projects, adding to facility management, organizational and financial aspects the necessary human and emotional quality which is very often ignored in contemporary office architecture and is to be considered a fundamental part of the change management process.
The office, as a place of work, has very much changed in the course of the past 50 years. The complexity of relations between the various players has shown that today `work´ needs to be considered as a cultural act. It has to do with communication qualities, questions of life style and a variety of social facts as well as urban aspects. If work is no longer linked to a predefined `place´ due to new IT-technologies and if work is no longer about hierarchies due to new management models, where is our office to be, what is a workplace to look like? The methodology proposed for this task is the Integrated Office Strategy (I.O.S.) and the cognitive mind map leads to work-scapes permitting a new equilibrium of ACTION - INTERACTION - REACTION as definition for future `work´
