English abstract:
This contribution focuses on the simulation of daylight within the context of the virtual recon¬struction of the interiors of synagogues in Vienna that were destroyed in 1938 and have disappeared without leaving a trace. Although in many cases there is not a single picture of the interiors available, computer-assisted simulations can convey an impression of what they must have looked like. The paper discusses the handling of minor and major information gaps, as well as the approach to three-dimensional modelling and subsequent visualisation. It concludes with examples of the achievable level of quality of interior impressions including the incidence of daylight.
