English abstract:
Every Urban Renewal Project in a historical context has the task of going beyond the application of a layer of new plaster on the facades of an impoverished city. The truth is that this kind of project has the mission to revitalize the core of an urban area characterized by many emotional moments for the members of a particular community.
The cultural context of Lima has many facets; the colonization has provided Lima with a multicultural society, where probably the one common cultural aspect of the inhabitants of Lima is Criollismo.
Criollismo characterizes the lifestyle of a considerable number of Limeños (inhabitants of Lima). There are extraordinary places in Lima to commemorate the popular traditions. Many of them are located in the neighborhood of Barrios Altos, part of the historical city center of Lima.
This project explores the relevant aspects of Lima with respect to the culture, the history and the architecture with the aim of finding suitable strategies for the city's Urban Renewal. In addition, this project proposes fundamental guidelines for designing the future city Master Plan of Lima.
